Product Highlight Mitel SIP-DECT Integrated with OpenScape Business.We%u2019re constantly asked, why Mitel? One of the easy answers to that question is the portfolio%u2019s obvious strength when it comes to DECT cordless. Our Siemens / Unify heritage meant we were already experts in OpenScape DECT but now OpenScape Business can integrate with Mitel%u2019s awardwinning SIP DECT which opens another can of opportunity for our resellers. What opportunity?OK, for starters there is an enormous base of Mitel 250 and 400 systems out there that are all end of life. The opportunity to upgrade them to OpenScape Business or MiVB and retain the existing cordless solution %u2013 there%u2019s one.The Mitel SIP DECT solution does a few things that OpenScape DECT doesn%u2019t. Mandown alarms, event alarms etc %u2013 which lends itself to key vertical markets. There%u2019s a second.DECT, in my humble opinion, is way more flexible and reliable than WLAN and the handsets are fully integrated into system functions. That%u2019s a third. How easy is it to install? So, for those of you that know me you would expect me to say this. It%u2019s easy. The truth however is quite entertaining. In typical fashion I didn%u2019t bother with manuals and just plugged stuff in and started from there. You really need to know how to do it!Another immediate point. All the docs assume that the base stations and PBX are on the same subnet. In a network, or if you%u2019re hosting OpenScape Business, then you%u2019re going to need a VPN tunnel, SIP DECT will not (at the time of writing) work with device@home.
