Product HighlightOk - so lesson one - RTFM!Once you%u2019ve read the manual let%u2019s run through.Step One: Identify the baseWhen you download the SIP DECT software the folder includes an application that allows you to scan your network and locate the RFP base station(s).You then configure one of these as the OMM (OpenMobility Manager) and browse to it. Like any network, statically assigning the IP address of the base station is recommended and once logged onto OMM you can point the base at the OpenScape Business as it%u2019s gateway. Step Two: Configure OpenScape BusinessAs of V3_R4.2, OpenScape Business now has a wizard to set up the relationship between the RFP base stations and the PBX. This wizard takes 2 minutes to complete and Bob%u2019s your uncle, you%u2019re ready to add users.Step Three: Adding UsersEach user is essentially a SIP extension. You add them in the same way as you would a standard SIP extension. In Expert Mode however there are now dedicated settings for Mitel SIP DECT extensions.Last: The Handset(s)On the handset itself, power it on and enter the subscription PIN. Boom you%u2019re done.SummaryNo other vendor, again my humble opinion, can touch us on DECT. More importantly you can wander into a client with a 12-year-old 250 or 400 and assure them that their DECT will be unaffected. You can upgrade and use what%u2019s there.Interestingly, you can have exactly the same conversation with a client who has a 15-year-old Hipath!Cosmetically some of you may prefer the Mitel handsets, I%u2019m not in that camp %u2013 I still think the OpenScape DECT is prettier. However, what I love is that we can now choose the DECT solution that covers the clients entire need. If events and alarms are the thing, then SIP DECT is the solution.Let me end with this. There%u2019s a huge base of 250 and 400%u2019s out there! Go and fill your boots...
